Today, Memorial Day in the United States, I wish for all of us to take a moment and remember. Remember someone in your family, or a friend, or a friend of a friend, who has served this country.
Remember that some didn’t come home.
Remember that some came home permanently changed.
Remember that we owe them all. And that we owe their families too.
And then get on with your weekend party. Celebrate summer and life and family.
But never forget.

I remember a parade to the cemetery, the drum cadence changing time, a speech, a wreath dropped in the lake, and a bugle player.

Yes, I remember that too. And being really really hot, standing in formation for a LONG speech, complete with those tall fuzzy hats.

We are so lucky to live in a free country, and should be forever grateful to all those who gave their lives for this special way of life.

Sometimes we get involved in our own issues and forget how lucky we really are.
