My mom’s been gone eleven years now. Sometimes I still feel very connected to her.
Peaches in my mom’s old yellow bowl.
Like when I’m standing in her kitchen preparing peaches for the freezer.
You can see other interpretations of “Connected” at the original post. Or check out a few of my favorites here, here and here.
What makes you feel connected?
I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

I hope my kids feel that connection with me when I am gone.

It’s interesting how certain foods can remind us of certain people. I feel you missing your mom with the memories embedded in these peaches. Whenever I pick beans I think of my friend, Melinda. Or brew black tea…my grandma. So fascinating.

Great memories. Remember her offering me the last peach of the season one year. Remember how disappointed she was once when we came down and there weren’t any peaches another year. Peaches and sweet corn…that’s my mom.

Sweet peaches, fresh corn on the cob. A tomato still warm from the garden. All soooo good.
