Change Is Hard

Cee’s black & white photo challenge: Walkways, hallways, elevators

A photo from our recent DC trip seems to fit Cee’s challenge. While we were there we walked in a lot of hallways. Many of them were highly polished with white marble floors and walls. But the hallways I found most interesting were those below the Senate buildings, those with the exposed pipes, original brick walls and polished concrete floors. The hallways not meant to impress.

Below the Senate.

Below the Senate.

These kinds of details make for an interesting black and white image. Thanks Cee for challenging us to explore aspects of photography we don’t use every day!

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  2. This looks amazingly like the tunnels we have beneath government buildings in Springfield, our state capital. I remember them well, as I used to walk them daily!

    • Yes, it is very long…usually it’s filled with lots of people though, so it doesn’t feel that eerie. It’s hard on the feet though…long cement passage way.

  4. That Hallway looks scary in black and white!

    • I can see it might appear that way. And it IS kind of easy to get turned around down there…but there’s lots of young 20 something people that work there that are always helpful in helping a middle aged confused woman out and telling her which way to find the elevator!
