WordPress Photo Challenge: Landscape

The landscape in Southern Michigan in early April can look like anything. You never know. Could be snow. Could be sunshine. Could be both on the same day.

Yellow willow, red twig dogwood., blue sky. Perfect.

Yellow willow, brown reeds, red twig dogwood., blue water and sky. Perfect.

But here is what I found out at my favorite park today. It was cold, but the sun was shining and that made it a great day.

What does your landscape look like? Care to share? Post a shot and link it up to the original WordPress post. We’d love to see!

You can see other interpretations there as well. Or if you’re strapped for time, here are some of my favorites, each very different, ….here, here and here.

And let’s hope there’s no more snow in our forecast. I think we’re pretty much done with winter now if Mother Nature would just cooperate.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Lovely photo – looks like a wonderfully place to take In a walk. My landscape is similar in northern Illinois, but last week I was in the Keys and I had seascapes to look at. We got home late Saturday night and it’s been 50-50 cloudy and sunny. Tomorrow is rain. The next day, you never know. Enjoy your week.

    • Thank you! I was out at the park with the dog and happened to see this as we were driving away. I turned around and took my little point and shoot out and got it. First I thought I’d come back with my big camera, then I realized that the light would never be the same again and it’s going to rain now for about 3 hundred days…so I just used what I had.

      • Good for you. Sometimes the little point and shoots get just as good a shot, it’s all about the timing and you were obviously there at the right time!

    • Yes it was pretty cold. I had forgotten my gloves and was walking Katie, with one hand in my pocket all the time! Lovely with the sun though, we haven’t seen much of the sun lately.

  6. Pretty photo. We’ve got grey skies and rain on the way…again. Yep, I know, April showers and all that. Still, it’s tough with a long-haired dog!

    • We’re back to heavy grey skies and rain/sleet/hail/rain/snow/rain….here today and for the foreseeable future. Still, we have more hope for spring to arrive soon than you do so I should be grateful.

  10. Let me know if you figure out how to get Mother Nature to cooperate. Lots of snow last night followed by icky mix this afternoon. Ready for blue skies and green grass!

  11. Wow–it LOOKS like spring down your way! I am impressed. We had about 12 new inches in the past two days. I like this landscape better.

  14. Now that is a proper April landscape. Someday I’m pretty sure it will look like that Around Here. At least we had a nice rosy sunset this evening.
