Cee has a black and white photo challenge out right now – “Through a window.” I’ve already been doing that a lot, looking through a window, so I figured this would be an easy one.
And just today at the oriole feeder outside my window I captured a prolonged fight among hungry birds. You might even say they were angry birds.
But in the end, though I deliberately left part of the window frame in the shot just to use one of them in the black and white challenge…
…I couldn’t bring myself to take the color out.
Guess I’m going to have to find another window.

I live in Southeastern Michigan, about an hour north of Detroit. These are Baltimore Orioles. Mostly male, though there’s a female or two in there.

You’ve got a front-row seat at the Oriole Restaurant! How lovely, even if they do squabble over dinner!

They argue about who’s top oriole most of the day, but particularly in the evening.

My Orioles (you like that possessive thing I have going on?) are back and I’ve now seen a hummingbird twice – or maybe it was two hummingbirds at separate times.

Lucky you to have Baltimore Orioles at your feeder. I think in all my years in Ottawa I’ve only ever seen one.

I never used to. They used to go through and I’d see them in the yard for maybe a day or two, but last year they stayed around most of the summer.

That must be some fantastic jelly. They’re almost burning as many calories squabbling as eating!!!

Just cheap stuff, and I wish they’d eat the oranges more. Some days I don’t put out jelly so they’ll eat healthier, but they really like the sugar.
