I’ve been debating what to use for this week’s smiling post. It’s been snowing off and on all week, wet sticky snow that hung around long after it fell.
We got a lot, and it’s early. Most of us weren’t finished with fall yet. We complained, talked about going South.
And yet.
Katie has been acting like a puppy in this, our first real snow, of the season.
So I’m taking the advice of my sheltie-girl and I’m going to go with the flow and say that, believe it or not, this week the snow made me smile.
More than once.
And because I’m retired and didn’t have to drive in it I smiled even wider.
Katie is a wise little girl. I should take her advice more seriously.

Beautiful winter scenes. As you said, so different from the desert pics I posted. I miss the beauty of the snow, and sitting inside by a wood stove drinking a cup of tea with a pot of soup on the stove. That’s about it, but sweet memories. There are always trade offs. I agree with Katie…go with the flow.

I’m hoping to get out to the desert for a week this winter.

The sun shining on the treetops is gorgeous! OK, that is my new thought to get me out of bed for work in our freezing (40 degree) weather here in sunny FL: at least it’s not snowing. Thanks, Dawn. 🙂

It is pretty… My dogs love snow, but the snow we received had a crust, so not as fun to play in. Watching the dogs play in the snow is always worth a smile! As are those gorgeous pictures.

Katie is not a fan of crusty snow either. But this was just plain old fun snow. Mostly gone now, but we know it will be back.

I smiled, too, at your beautiful photos! And I’m sorry, but I’m glad we didn’t get that much snow — people here still have fall and even Halloween decorations out. Mother Nature sure is confused!

We could have lived without the snow too, but given we got it, well, might as well play in it! It was pretty on the oak leaves still on the trees.

Love the quality of the light in the first photo!
We’ve been remarking here in Seattle about the lack of snow in the mountains. It’s mid November and yet the peaks are still bare (aside from the year-round snowfields). It’s looking like an el-nino year for us. Great for more mild temps, terrible for water supply and photography.

I loved the light in that first photo too. Taken with my cell phone through a living room window, because it was only there for a moment. I hope you guys get the right amount of snow to refresh the water supply and keep things in balance.

We no longer live where it snows – and despite the downsides of it, I miss it. It always interrupted my plans somehow and after one year, I discovered that oddly enough each interruption resulting in my slowing down and better appreciating something: life, beauty, my family or work – something. The following years, I welcomed most of those “interruptions”.
