This week Cee’s black & white photo challenge is to get an image of an isolated object, and Nancy Merrill’s A Photo a Week challenge asks us to post a black and white image.
So this is a two for one kind of post.
I like black & white images that have clean delineation, almost graphic art. I really liked the light making the wing look like modern art. I thought about focusing more on the goose and less on the background.
I think there’s a way to mask out the goose and then smooth out the water behind it. But I haven’t figured that out yet. Doing that would make this even more like graphic art.
I don’t know though, I sort of like the reflection/shadow that is included in the first image.
What do you think?

Typically I crop more like the second version, though there is something to be said about the first. And I think that’s a swan…

You are right, it WAS a swan, I don’t know what I was thinking!

I so love B&W. I like the first photo better……he has room to move and that reflection is beautiful. Such a great photo, Dawn.

I liked it too. It was almost black and white from the start, given he’s a white swan and the lake was frozen.

I always like BW. The first image is best though. He has room to fly, and i like the reflection.

You know, I, too, prefer the first image with his reflection in the water. And I like the final one, again because of the reflection. Maybe I’m just lusting for water — warm Gulf water and sunshine!!

We’re going to Florida for a week soon. I’ll bring some sunshine back with me.

The wing in the second photo jumps out at you. It’s like a sculpture. Incredible shot.

That wing is what caught my attention about the whole image. You’re right, it IS like sculpture.
