I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

They are the tiniest little rolls I’ve ever seen. And the individual ones look like what the store maybe had in it’s storeroom for the employee bathroom. Selling them 4 for $5.00.

I know. This is from two separate exploratory trips….I haven’t seen my normal brand or packages larger than 4 rolls since this all started 3 weeks ago. Maybe the manufacturers aren’t making big packages or big rolls anymore. The little individual ones my husband found at a store. I think they were what the store had for their own bathroom, and they’re selling them now, 4 for $5. There’s no barcodes to scan on them. I’m sure they weren’t intended to be sold.

This looks like that POM brand that I bought at Sam’s. All individually wrapped. Probably feels like sandpaper…. No need to report back. 😀

I know. I had purchased some before this all began and I wasn’t worried. But when week after week goes by and there is nothing at all in the paper goods aisle you start to wonder what you will do when you run out of what you have. Hence when I see it I buy one package. Just to be safe. But the packages are smaller than normal and the rolls inside are smaller than normal so these won’t last long once we have to use them.

LOL! Who ever knew it would be a thing?! Congrats!
Yeah, I usually buy one or 2 of the huge (12 rolls) packages of 4-rolls-in-1 rolls, so they last a long time. I’m hoping that what I bought before this all went crazy is enough to get through however long this is going to be, but as the end date keeps moving farther out– no idea whether I’ll be able to get my usuals.

Just checked https://howmuchtoiletpaper.com/ ; if my numbers are correct (I’ve never counted how often I visit the loo, nor how many sheets I use for each occurrence!), it says I’m good for months still. I’m skeptical. Will have to collect some of this important data. 😉

Hi, Dawn,
I’m with you….I have a small stash of toilet paper but not have seen any for over 3 wks. I am getting a little concerned that there will not be any when I need it. And what about the folks that need it now?!
The bidets have sold out at Costco, Home Depot, and Lowes. What used to be a luxury bath fixture has quickly become a solution to the toilet paper shortage!
May we all find what we need and be able to “spare a square” for others.

Our store here is allowing one package per person when it comes in. They don’t even take it off the pallet. Glad you found some.

Same here. The first time I went out looking for it a poor kid barely out of high school was defending a pallet of toilet paper trying to make sure we each only took one package. I’m sure when he hired in as a shelf stock person he never dreamed of anything like this being in his job description.

I recently moved my stepmother into an assisted living facility in northeastern Mississippi. Monday morning she called and shared she was out of toilet paper and the facility wasn’t providing any…. she had some other needs, too. I went to the store where we are weathering the storm and discovered an empty aisle. Fortunately, we had a few rolls to share and I shipped eight rolls off with bag of cat litter, a box of canned cat food, and a couple of boxes of tissues. Talked to her yesterday and it all arrived.
The sun is shinning and it’s an open sky full of possibilities. Hope you are well and safe and healthy. Peace.

Well done! Now I can understand a TP shortage if it were a stomach virus making the rounds, but a respiratory one?!? Oh, well, it is what it is. Maybe folks with big families all cooped up together just figure there’ll be that many more behinds that need wiping every day!

I know. It’s crazy. But I sort of get it…now. It had been 3 weeks since I had seen TP in any amount on a shelf. So even though I didn’t need it right now, I vowed if I ever saw it on the shelf I was going to buy it anyway, because who knew if it would be there when I DID need it. That’s the mentality that gets in your mind when you’re living in a world of shortages. Which just cause more shortages. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy.
