Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Anniversary

This past weekend marked the 17th wedding anniversary for husband and me.  We spent Saturday doing homework (me) and installing a new dishwasher (him).  Any thoughts of going out to eat were negated by a hose too short requiring another trip to Home Depot and generally irritated feelings of disgust, his by installation, mine by homework.  So we went to dinner Sunday instead and ate too much, drank too much wine and generally behaved in a refined but irresponsible way.

Today we are back on track, diet and study wise.  Even Katie the dog seems to recognize that I HAVE TO GET SOME WORK DONE!  NOW!  and has retreated to her bird watching pillow.  I have finished the readings for my Tuesday archival class and will attempt again to get the assignment done for the Wednesday government docs  class.  The instructor has emailed me more specific instructions so maybe it won’t be so frustrating this time.  Then on to Thursday’s grant writing reading, and then the dreaded Friday search and retreival class preparation.  All by the end of the day today.  Sure.  No problem.

Now..Katie, what did you need?  To go outside?  RIGHT NOW??   (..sigh..)  Ok.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.
