Sitting at the living room window, on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan I am watching the waves build up as a weather front passes. And then suddenly, from the hillside just to the left of me a huge bald eagle rises with a squirrel in his talons. He’s rising slowly, into the wind and I get a good long look. Then he sort of hovers just above the edge of the bluff, right in front of me for what seems like forever before he slowly turns and flies downwind.
It was amazing. Though I feel sorry for the squirrel.

I feel sorry for the squirrel but as my son says, all things must eat. Still doesn’t make me feel any better.

Ugh, I hate seeing that. I was driving once and a bird could hardly get enough lift because he was carrying a bunny. I was just glad he cleared my car. ugh!! Diana

Wow – bald eagles are beautiful! (and I don’t feel sorry for that squirrel at all – 🙂 )
Is it snowing there today?

Ricky, it is supposed to be cold and windy and some snow here today, but then sunny and in the 40’s next week. The lake was pounding the shore all night making it hard to sleep..you’d think it would be soothing, but it was a bit more like some sort of monster I COULDN’T SEE!!! Scary thoughts from childhood floated through my mind you know. This morning in the light of day the waves aren’t so big, though it’s really cold and windy out, and I only walked the beach for a tiny bit. Long enough to find another Petoskey stone though! LOL!

Wow! Definitely something that you don’t get to see everyday. I saw a really odd thing on the way home from the obedience trial today. I was coming through a small town about 45 min. from here, and there was a big ol’ wild turkey in front of the town’s senior citizen center. It made me do a double take. Too bad I was driving or I would have taken a picture.
