Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Probably need to limit my rock intake

I’ve been walking the beach here, looking for that Petoskey stone.    Yesterday I didn’t need to go far before my fingers were freezing from dipping them into the cold waves, and my pockets were full.

I took my new collection back to the house to see what I had.  Look!  Aren’t they beautiful?  And the rock at the 6:00 location on the plate?  A Petoskey stone!

At this rate of accumulation I’ll need to rent a U-Haul to drag them all home.  So I think I need to put a limit on how many I can collect a day.  Or maybe the limit should be per week…like two stones a week?  But at that rate I’m all done for my entire time here.

Later in the day I drove down to a small village and had lunch.  Plus I bought an owl.  OK, so it’s a ROCK that was carved into an owl.  Another stone to take home.  Guess that means I’m done.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  3. Oh my goodness what lovely photos! Yes, Dawn, you will need to limit your rock intake. (Unless you have lots of places to store the little fellows.) Aren’t Petosky stones cool? Love the owl. Really do.

  4. But there are so many beautiful rocks – how can one limit themselves? I’m serious! Glad you found a Petosky stone – I had never heard of one before.

  7. Hmmm, Dad found out he had to many rocks long time ago. When he went home to visit last November a lot of them were returned to the ground.

  8. I’d never heard of a Petosky stone! See how educational it is, reading other people’s blogs? Now I’ve seen a bunch of photos on the web while looking up what it is. Beautiful!

  9. You can never have too many rocks, as far as I’m concerned. I have them in bowls and vases all over my house and I can’t wait to get more. Maybe a trip to Whitefish Point this summer… Spike will have more time to get out the polisher now.

That beach is beautiful. Hope you’re having a peaceful trip.
