We attended a surprise birthday party for husband’s aunt Saturday. Many people from her building and her family showed up at a local restaurant to help her celebrate.
Yes, she was surprised.

The birthday girl.
There was Chinese food, good conversation, family updates, smiles and hugs.

And cake. Decorated in pink of course. It’s her favorite color.

No room for 97 candles.
It was a good day.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

By the way, how are you liking this theme to your blog, Dawn? I love the huge header it allows. Does it allow for photos to be displayed larger than you show here?

Karma, yes I do…still figuring it all out…I like the header too and yes I can post pictures larger than those on this post…but I only do that when I’m working on a photo challenge, because I’m saving space! 🙂

Nice photos; she does look great. Funny about the “years young”–I saw it in the paper this morning and that’s what made me comment on it on FB.

So we’re 50-something years young…I don’t know, I don’t think I mind that.

I think if everyone did that for all ages, it would be OK. But it does seem to start applying to people whom other people think are “old”. I think I’m not there yet–who knows, maybe in 20 years I’ll like it better. 🙂
