Sometimes when we have days and days of snow and the sky seems dreary and spring seems far away it helps to find some color. Anywhere. Here’s some color I found way up north this past weekend. (Remember to click on the photos to see more detail.)
I think in this part of the country people go out of their way to make sure there’s a little color around all winter.
Sometimes there’s color that you don’t even understand. That’s OK.
Sometimes color just makes you smile. That’s good too.
So if you’re feeling a little worn down by winter look around. Maybe something pretty will catch your eye. Maybe it will make you smile.
You’re one day closer to spring!

Love these photos! Amazing how color can boost our spirits. Primary colors simply make us cheerful, brings out our inner child.

I think you’re spot-on about the people up here (there) using color for year-round appeal. Northport and Suttons Bay are such colorful gems.

Excellent colorful post, Dawn! I’ve always said, I don’t particularly care how COLD it gets, as long as the sun is shining!

We have a bright red picnic table in our back yard and I never put it away…COLOR against the drabness of winter.
Very colorful posted…..The telephone booth is for Superman—you just never know. How hard a sell is Italian ice in February? In Chicago the stands close for the winter….

I feel the hope of spring in the slant of the evening sun – staying around a bit longer each day. In the drips from our roof as the December snow-turned-to-ice softens and melts. In the warmth of our hearts at home again. Finally. And those wonderful spots of color!

Thanks for the cheerful color, Dawn. Nice to see on this day where New York and New England are bracing for a BIG winter storm.
