When you’re walking in the woods do you ever feel you’re being watched?

Depending on which woods I’m in, I definitely do. There’s always a bird or two hoping for a snack.

But it’s not the birds I’m talking about. It’s the others that hang out in the woods. They’re always silently watching.

Easter morning when I was walking in Kensington’s woods I deliberately walked to the trails in the back of the park, just to see who was watching me.

And, as usual, there were the usual suspects.

Some of which I’ve shared with you today.

Sometimes I think nature is watching us long before we notice them! I have been startled when pulling weeds in my main flower bed. In most areas I was down to bare dirt. Bent over at the waist with my head just inches from the ground I was suddenly startled by a huge toad nestled in his burrow. We were almost eye to eye. After I composed myself I apologized for disturbing his home and moved to a different spot. I was thankful that it was just a toad and not a snake! 😳
l love your walnut owl macro! Thank you for sharing your photos! 😊

Oh for sure, they see us LONG before we notice them. Especially the deer. Glad you didn’t come eye to eye with a snake either! I think the snake would have slithered away, but the toad stood his ground. Nice of you to move on for him. There’s always weeds somewhere else, right?!

These are fun finds Dawn – no deer or fawns for me this year yet and even squirrels are hard to come by these days to be honest.

I’ve got a LOT of squirrels in my backyard this year. All colors and sizes. They’re not as friendly as the ones at Kensington though.

Those squirrels at Kensington know people are toting goodies to feed the birds, so they know all the angles. 🙂

Adore this post. YES, we are being watched— and of course can look back at the watcher.

I love the log with eyes! Gets your imagination going like a child.
I brought Chewy out to pee very early in the morning yesterday, looked to my left and below the crest of our grassy lawn were three does staring at me. I said good morning, and tried to hurry Chewy up so they could go back to what they were doing before the rest of the world woke up (and before Chewy noticed them and started barking).

That happens to us in early morning pee walks too. Generally they are either in the neighbor next door’s yard or across the street. Sometimes they stay still and Penny doesn’t notice. Sometimes they run and then all barking breaks out. This is why she’s always on a leash. 🙂
