I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

It was. I went out about 3 a.m. to see if I could see the Milky Way through all the light pollution. As you can see I COULD see it, but it was faint given how much light I was standing in the middle of!

You’re going to Maine, and that’s a very nice place to be under the stars. Hopefully you’ll have at least one clear night!

So lovely, a corridor of either dawn or dusk. Which one?

It was about 3 a.m. I was out at the end of our dock looking to the South, to see if I could see the Milky Way given all the light pollution. I could actually see it with the naked eye, but it was faint. And I haven’t been able to make it come out further in processing the image either. This was pretty much the way it looked to my eye. It was a lovely night out there.

It was very peaceful standing out on the end of the dock in the early morning. I heard an owl across the way and of course fish jumping.

Stunning, Dawn! It looks like there is a hint of the aurora there, but its likely too far south!

Well, there was a notice that there might be aurora as far south as the Gulf, but this is mostly light pollution.

a still lake at night is a sight to behold, nice photo. Keep making your days at the lake count.

I was standing on the end of our dock, about 3 a.m. The stars were wonderful, even with all the light pollution.

I enjoyed standing on the end of the dock around 3 a.m. Heard an owl across the way, and some big fish flopping. It was a lovely night – no bugs!

Bug free worship of a glorious sky is always a good thing. I wish I could remember how to say thank you . . . I have to practice.

I was out on the end of our dock to see if I could see the Milky Way, which I could, just barely. It was a nice sort of clear night but the clouds were coming in.

The Milky Way?? And you had to travel clear to Alabama to catch it?? Wow, what a sight! It must’ve been very restful — the water looks so calm.

Well I was already there, and it was a clear night so I thought I’d go down to the dock and just see what I could see, given there was so much light there. I could see it faintly, but it was nice to be out on the dock in the warm night. I heard an owl, and some fish, it was really nice. I stayed out there till the birds started singing.
