I know. It all seems quite a long time ago when I traveled over to the western side of the state to camp and watch for stars.

You all know the star thing didn’t work out. And that it rained a lot. And that my last day there I drove up to Northport to meet with friends about a new book.

But on the drive back to camp I did wander a bit, looking at pretty stuff. Of course.

Because why be up there at all if you’re not enjoying all the pretty stuff!

Many of these barns you’ve seen before, but I’d have to say it was a long time ago.

And some of you are newcomers so this will be your first glimpse of the beautiful rural landscape that sits along Lake Michigan in the upper part of our lower peninsula.

I feel like I’m jabbering too much. Maybe I should just show you a few of the pretties and let you decide for yourself if they were worth me stopping to grab the image.

I kind of think you’ll be in agreement with me that it was worth turning around and even driving around a really big block to capture some of these.

Enjoy.

A vintage car, a vintage house, all that wide open space and a barn? Oh, yes. Definitely needed to pull off the road. Very pretty, Dawn.

I like this image too. When I was driving into the public parking lot for the bike trail which is next door to this house I saw two guys in this car pull into the house. Thought it was a neat car.
Then I walked down the bike path to get to the famous barn and back, and as I passed the house I saw that the car was still there, next to the vintage house with that barn in the background. Green trees, green car. Couldn’t resist.

Photographer’s trifecta – perfect. I like that cute and sporty little car, though it seems out of place in the sticks. The owner decided to get away from life in the city I’ll bet.

Wow, gorgeous photos. I love photo #4, even tho maybe it’s considered to be a “weed” … hey, maybe WE are considered to be weeds. Let’s just be careful about that ok? 🙂 Yep, turn around, go around the block again, go around the MILE again, there are photos to be taken! 🙂 Thanks Dawn, this was great.

Oh, that first barn is practically perfect! And how I love the vintage house and car … but yes, that dandelion artsy shot is splendid, too. Looks like you had a great time doubling back to snap all these lovely barns.

I did. You can’t go wrong up there. I can’t wait to get back up there to try for the stars again.

Me too! I’ve gotten a couple I like, but I sure would like to get better at it. It’s hard to get all the stars aligned (see what I did there?) so that weather and moon and Milky Way all come together at a place I happen to be standing!

Love the dandelion macro. What kind of lens did you use to shoot it?
Enjoyed the tour of the barns and countryside!

It’s something plant, not dandelion, with a sed puff thats 4 or 5 times bigger. I just used my walk around 70-200 lens, zoomed out some.
