Wordless Wednesday – cedar waxwings in evening light

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. With the birds, branches, and blue skies that is one beauty of a picture.

    • It was close to dinner time, and I see a flock of birds from my breakfast room, flying over the pond across the street and coming back to roost in a big cottenwood tree which has some bare branches. I only see these birds a couple times a year if that. I usually hear them before I see them. So out I go with the camera, across the lawn and the street, shooting up into the sun. I can’t see much, and I upset them, so they leave, but they only go across the street into my yard with a couple of dead birch trees where some of them stop to clean up, I suppose, after supper. So that’s how I got this shot.

  2. That’s a great picture, the blue of the sky, the almost white branches, quite a contrast. Well done, Dawn.

  3. Too funny. I was going through my pictures last night and landed upon mine of these lovelies. Yours is so lovely against the blue sky!

  4. Great shot of beautiful birds. When I was living in Southern Oregon, they visited my yard once, and every year I hoped they’d come back, but they never did.
