Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

So exciting!

Katie learned to “roll over” tonight!  I had to share that with all you dogs out there…we’ll see if she remembers tomorrow morning!

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. LIbrarian – great career choice! I love my job as a library manager 99% of the time – and I bet too few people can say that about their career.

I’ve been reading your “Yeterdays” post. My Dad passed away 18 years ago and I used to think it would always hurt. I didnt’ handle it well (he was only 65 and supposedly fit and healthy but died suddenly). A year after he died I cracked up, turned my life upsidedown and insideout and spent the next 9 years getting my life fully back on track. I still miss him, but no longer daily, and no longer with pain.

I am pleased for you that an anniversary of your Mum’s passing went by unmarked. You’re right, some healing is happening. The love remains, the pain fades; what a wonderful thing.

    • Thanks Cath! Where are you a librarian? My mom died unexpectedly too at 75 of an aneurysm. Dad died 5 mos later when his car was rear ended by a semi truck. The driver had fallen asleep and didn’t see all the stopped traffic on the freeway. It was a very bad year, and the loss of them caused all of us (there are 4) to rethink our lives. I think that’s natural. Glad you found yourself again!

  2. That’s awesome! Not an easy trick at all. Oreo only does if he has a squeaky toy in his mouth.

    Yay!

  3. Hurray! Great news! I don’t like that trick myself – I do it but not often or happily.

  7. That’s great! –so, did she remember the next day?

Jake learned rollover in a flash. Tika and Boost are almost as likely to leap up and spin as to roll over. Remington took weeks and weeks of carefully breaking it into pieces like–lie on side. Reward if he actually got there. Lift his paw a little and set it down, reward. Whew! I have a lot of respect for dogs who roll over.
