Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Got to the park before the sleet got to us.

There’s another (perhaps the last?) cold front coming through now.  Katie and I watched the weather on the news this morning and decided we would try to squeeze in a small adventure before the storm hit.

We just made it.

It was cold.  And windy.

And the park people had recently done a controlled burn of acres and acres of fields.

It smelled pretty bad to me, probably worse to Katie.

But we had fun anyway, and made it home just as the first spits of sleet hit the windshield.  I’d tell you what it’s doing now but I promised not to talk about s*&! anymore.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Same awful weather here, but Sarah and I got out into the wooded dunes yesterday in the late afternoon. The sun was shining, air clear and crisp, light breeze sweet and fresh. I can see that wind in Katie’s fur! And what a beautiful tail she has! Now for a snug and cozy rest of the day at home, right?

  2. Uh oh. It’s warm and sunny here, but very windy….hope your weather isn’t blowing this way next.

Glad you got out to enjoy some time with Katie.

  3. My goodness that was a windy walk – is windy here today too. Loved that first photo of Katie – like the titanic shot – leaning into the wind.

  4. Yep, we’re enjoying a snug nap this afternoon. PJ…I think what you thought was her tail is actually her head! 🙂 She was looking back over her right shoulder and the wind caught the fur on her neck and chest… LOL! Bree, Katie loves to put her nose into the wind!

  6. I know summer will be with you soon!!! Just hang in there!
The second picture got me thinking if that was Katie’s butt, or if I just couldn’t see her face!!

  7. Very windy! At first I thought the photo was of her tail being blown all over until I realized that her paws were facing forward and that was just all her ruff blowing into her face! Fun shot.

  8. It was really windy here on Saturday but not cold. Thank goodness. They have been doing controlled burns here too.

  9. We’ve had a roller coaster of weather here the last week too. 70’s for a couple of days and then we woke up to more snow yesterday. The forecast said that today and tomorrow should be warmer again, but that we’re getting more snow at the end of the week. I’m so sick of the snow!

  10. I’m so happy you got out before that “s*%&” started. The nerve of it! We have clouds right now, but we’re supposed to get sun and warm, it says in blurred sanscript. Maybe out weather will blow your way.

  11. Wondering if your weather has cleared up today, or if it’s still carrying on? I love how you can see the wind against Katie’s fur. I also admire you for going outside when the weather was questionable.

  12. Wow! That is some strong wind. I can relate to the frustration, we are having cold, rain and a little sleet here too. I wish spring would get here already!!! I’m glad you got to get to the park before it hit. 🙂
