I live in a tiny little town, and this summer the township decided to start a local farmer’s market. It’s every Sunday morning out at Katie’s favorite park. So far I haven’t taken her there but this morning I saw several dogs, so maybe next Sunday we’ll both go.
It’s a tiny little market with a half dozen vendors. I don’t think they’re really local to our township, other than my neighbor who was there selling his crafts.
But the corn and tomatoes were from a farming community not far away.
And when the heritage tomato lady’s bigger tomatoes come in I won’t care where she’s from because they will be delicious! I bought green beans from her this morning.
I think as more vegetables come into season we’ll see more people stopping by.
I hope so, because there’s nothing better than fresh Michigan corn and tomatoes. And I wouldn’t want our local market to have to end for lack of participation.
Cause August in Michigan is corn eatin’ time!

Dog Dad misses those farmers market stores. None here in KW. Hope you are doing well, we plan to pick up Sherman on Saturday.

Those beets look yummy. I bought ruby and golden beets last Friday, cooked them that night, and we had them cold on Saturday, along with cold cooked eggs, Kalamata olives and pasta salad (rotini, feta, grated Parmesan, olive oil and green peas). Everything was so good we decided to save the smoked whitefish for tonight.

Yum! Fresh tomatoes…nothing better. I had some of my home grown tomatoes and basil for lunch, mixed with fresh mozarella balls and balsamic vinegar. Delicious!
Our farmers market is about the same size, but always has a really good turnout.

That looks like fun! My tomatoes arent producing. I think its just to hot here right now. The plants are huge but the flowers keep dropping off. They are getting enough water so it must be the heat.
Your neighbors crafts look cute!

We have a nice farmers market that is open Saturday and Tuesday – and right now the Arkansas peaches are available and they are sooooo good. I love getting eggs there – they are just so much nicer

My dad’s garden has been supplying us with some great veggies already this summer and we are loving them! Wish we could get garden-fresh vegetables and fruits all year long!

Ooh, red tomatoes! I am still waiting for mine. I have the feeling they are going to all turn on me when I leave for vacation.
