Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Happy birthday brother!

Today is one of my brothers’ birthday.  Ten years ago his birthday was overshadowed by tragic events.  Though he lives in a southern state, he was in NYC on that day for a meeting.  Surreal.

Today, amid all the remembrances of a terrible day I want to make sure he knows I’m thinking of a pretty cool day – the day he joined the family!

So Happy Birthday Brother!  It was so good to spend last weekend with you and everyone.  Wish we could spend today together too!

Love,

Big Sis.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Funny, I’ve been thinking about people who have birthdays and wedding anniversaries and such on this date. It’s good to read your happy, celebratory greeting to your brother. Glad you had a weekend together, too!

  2. Interestingly it’s also my Dad’s mother’s birthday as well. Though we never knew that growing up – that they shared a birthday. She died when I was five, he would have been only a year old.

  8. Tough to share a happy day on such a tragic day but your brothers birthday came first so happiness wins. I saw a couple having wedding photo’s taken at the park on 9/11 – he was in his white Navy uniform and they looked so happy – life goes on.

  10. Actually mostly he works in sand…and big buildings that process sand. Sort of like big buckets and shovels from the beach when we were kids…
