I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

Yes, sandhill crane. He (or she) flew right over me yesterday while I was on my walk.

Such an elegant bird. Mystical, even. We have them in Maine, but I have only seen them once. What a treat to have one flying overhead.

They used to be rare here too, but now we have them all over. I still get a kick out of getting a photo of them though. At my favorite park they walk right up to you begging, which is sad and cool all at the same time. This was at a different park where they aren’t fed, and it was just flying alone, making that crazy distinctive call.

Never heard their call. Someday, maybe. Yes, sad and cool at the same time. Such an elegant bird should not be reduced to begging.

Nice shot. I’ve been seeing more and more birds up here along the lake shore. Yesterday I went in search of a woodpecker – could hear it pounding away, but couldn’t find it. It’s steadily raining this morning and the birds are enjoying the easy pickings of worms at the surface. It’s gonna be a great day – stay safe and well. Peace.

Too bad you couldn’t find the woodpecker. I’ve not had much luck finding them when I hear them either. Once in awhile I get lucky and see them, but they sure are illusive. Except for that one that landed on my hand a few weeks ago. That was something else!

Aw, he’s beautiful, as is your sunny header! Isn’t it wonderful how, now that we humans are locked in our homes, Nature is living with abandon?!? I’ve read all sorts of interesting articles about wildlife showing up on deserted city streets.

I’ve read some of that too. And the air is cleaner. We might all be getting fatter, though. Too close all day to the fridge!

It was! I was so excited when I saw what I got. Wasn’t sure when I was out at the park, you never know till you look at the images on a bigger screen.
