I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

My yard has always been a fun place. We worried some because three houses were built behind us, but so far the wildlife has adapted. Mostly they seem to hang out in our yard…guess they know they are safe.

I think so too! Today 3 fawns were hanging out in our neighbor’s yard, near the road and I was out taking their picture, which they didn’t seem to mind. Then a car came by and stopped and they ran TOWARD ME, like I was their mother. I don’t think I scare them at all.

I occasionally see the feathered visitors in our yards, but not fawns. Great photos, particularly of the fawn, who seems awfully comfortable to be in a human’s yard!

I know. There’s actually 3 of them. We aren’t sure if they are triplets, or just two batches of fawns. They’ve been hanging around together this week, in our yard a lot. We haven’t seen any adults near them for a few weeks.

I just saw a fawn this morning as I was driving. I hope the adults of your fawns are OK! I have heard that sometimes the adults drop the fawns off where they think they’ll be safe and go out and forage, picking them up later. Maybe that is what is going on – they figure you have a safe yard, and…
