I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

Is there anything prettier than a beautiful red cardinal in the snow? Lovely shots, Dawn.

I know…and I’m lucky that it’s snowing softly and I have a yard full of cardinals!

You truly are! I saw two on my walk yesterday. They are so skittish… Sigh. Crappy shots of both!

I haven’t seen my cardinals very often this winter. I love seeing them in the snow, they really brighten up a grey day.

I counted 8 male cardinals this evening, when they came in for their last dinner of the day. There were also many females, but it’s easier to count the bright red ones.

These are so pretty, Dawn. That last photo–I picture him saying, “Open the door, lady! I’m coming in.”

I’m sure he’d like that. I had to go out numerous times today to refill feeders. They were all eating up a storm. Because there was a storm coming.

I especially like the first one, though if I painted a cardinal in that shape no one would think it was life-like.

Yeterday it quietly snowed all day. Probably 5 or 6 inches by the time I went to bed. More overnight. But all that snow meant the birds were frantic at the feeder. It was SOOOOO beautiful, had at least 8 pairs of cardinals all bustling around, looking for food and the puffy snow was everywhere. I couldn’t stop looking outside. It was amazing. Today looks like more of the same.

I love these … especially that last one. Those little blurred wings are amazing! And it looks like you got some snow, too.

We got about two inches of the heavy, wet, hard-to-shovel variety.

You know, I always thought they were all over, was surprised to hear they are not. At least you’ll get to see them here frequently, because I love trying to get images of them! They don’t sit still very long so it’s pretty hard to do.
