Well. You may have noticed that I was not included in any of mom and my Auntie B’s adventures.

I would like to point out that I am a big girl now and I think I should be included in everything my people do! Don’t you agree with me?

After all, I will turn 9 months old next week, and that’s pretty old if you ask me. Don’t ask my folks, they still treat me like a baby.

Anyway, once mom and Auntie B returned home, with plenty of great smells on them I might add, I insisted on going with them everywhere, and a couple of days that everywhere included a local park next to our town’s small cemetery where my aunt could practice her bagpipes for an upcoming competition she will be in.

She said she hadn’t played in way too long and she needed to practice somewhere. I guess you can’t play the bagpipes just any ole place.

At first I wasn’t sure about the bagpipe sound, but mom urged me to come with her for a walk and we left my aunt to play in the park while we explored the cemetery next door.
I found out there were lots of whirly-gigs and flags flapping over there and I wasn’t too sure about all that at first.

Then I found this little dog and I tried to talk to him, but he was more the silent type.

And then I saw this little boy and tried to play with him, but he wouldn’t move and suddenly that scared me so I went and hid behind my mom’s legs.

That’s ok, right mom? Whenever I get scared I can hide behind you, right?

Anyway, I practiced sitting pretty a lot, and getting my picture taken. My sister, angel Katie, says that’s just part of the game plan when you live with our mom.

I’m getting pretty good at it too, though Katie says I need to be more insistent on getting my share of treats for the work I do modeling.

I’m getting prettier and prettier by the day now, so I don’t mind showing off.

Meanwhile my Aunt played on.

And the resident cranes listened too.

We all had a very good time, both days we wet to this park, and I guess I’ll call this a mini adventure, but I’m telling you, I’m up for something truly epic.

I hope mom’s planning something great real soon.

Penny–your absence did not go unnoticed! No, ma’am! Nine months old, already? Goodness, time flies. Your outing looks so nice. I’ll bet your aunt’s bagpipe music sounded wonderful, too. I hope you get to go on more adventures soon. Don’t forget–one photo, one treat!

I do forget the one treat thing sometimes Miss Lois. Mom put her camera on silent shutter so I don’t hear it. Sneaky mom. Therefore I believe I should get 5 treats for every pose. Just in case.

You might not have enjoyed tent living in the wet too much, Penny!
But my! Look at you! You are stunning! How lucky to have been around while your Aunty B played her bagpipes. Sounds like you all had a wonderful time.

I probably wouldn’t have liked all the rain, Miss Dale. Probably not the trekking through the woods in the dark and the wind and loud waves either. Maybe I should ask mom to make my first real adventure be some sort of quiet one. You think?

I think that would be best. Get you used to things slowly so you don’t ear them!

I will, Miss Susan! Today is my first day out of my heat diaper and I’m back to my joyful, jumpy, kissing self. I’ll give mom extra kisses today just for fun!

Oh, Penny, you are getting prettier and prettier by the day! I think this sounds like a good adventure, but I suspect Monk would’ve reacted just as you did with the stone dog and boy. He’ll be three in November, yet he still has certain fears — like flapping flags and aluminum foil. I don’t know what’s up with that. And thanks for the idea of playing in the graveyard. I hadn’t thought of that, but it’s perfect! Most times, I can practice at home, but when I need a quiet, private place to play, what better? And the “residents,” I’m sure, don’t mind one bit!

Well, Miss Debbie, I HATE foil too! I bark at mom if she even goes NEAR the foil drawer! I’m with Monk on that. Foil should be banned forever! Also I think the residents of your local cemetery would enjoy your flute playing!

PS: Miss Debbie, when my mom and aunt were camping in Canada a woman was practicing her flute at her campsite. It was really cool to hear it in the woods!

My teacher says flutes are especially lovely outdoors. Monk might have a hissy-fit, though, if I invaded his back yard with that screechy flute-thing! Hmm, how did Miss Penny get along with the bagpipes? Something tells me they’re louder than my flute!

Thank you Miss Pamela! Mom says she can’t wait until my adult coat comes in all the way, but she doesn’t want to let go of my puppy-ness either, so she also wants time to slow down. Mom is fickle.

I guess if you are out of practice and need to play bagpipes, you won’t get many complaints from the residents of a cemetery… Yep, Penny, you need more adventures that don’t include dead human boys nor birds as big as you.

Good idea, Mr. Trent! I think I need an adventure that lets me explore brand new places, maybe with a lake or an ocean or something.

I am very soft, Miss Diana! You are welcome to come by and pet me any time! I LOVE EVERYBODY! The more pets the better! Mom is very happy about this because many shelties are kinda shy and I’m not shy at all! I can’t wait to find out what my next adventure is either! (I’m sort of an impatient kind of sheltie-girl.)

Pretty Penny, you are so sweet and you are having fun learning about your world. Did the bagpipes sound like cats fighting or is your Auntie really good? You and Katie always remind me of the collies we had long ago. Bigger than you but just as pretty and precious!

My aunt is pretty good, but you know how bagpipes are. They start out kinda weird and can end weird too. In the middle it sounds pretty good!

My high school had a bagpipe band (our mascot was a Scottish terrier). Trust me when I say I know how they sound, LOL!

I love that you got to join in on the adventure and that you helped your momma encourage her sister’s hobby just like her sister did for your momma on that star-filled night! Sisterly love is truly special and so are you!!

Sometimes mini adventures are just as good as grand ones Penny. How cool that you got a free concert from your Aunt too!
Chewy encountered a dog statue recently, and he did NOT want to go anywhere near it. LOL.

I didn’t like that boy statue at all the first time I saw him, the dog statue was OK, but he wouldn’t play with me, so whatever! I like all adventures, but yesterday I got to go play with my dog mom at my breeder’s house, and when mom and dad picked me up I was so tuckered out I threw up all over my crate on the way home. Sometimes adventures are just too much!

Penny you are BEAUTIFUL and I am completely blown away by how much you and Levi resemble each other (mostly in the photos where you are sitting!) Your fur on the back even has a “part” like Levi’s does!! It’s amazing……if I didn’t know better I would think you were from the same litter!

That’s very cool, Miss Caren! I can’t wait until I get to meet your boy. Mom says I have to wait a little while longer just to make sure I’m not…ahem…ATTRACTIVE to boys any more. I think they’re going to get me fixed in November and then they won’t worry about it. I don’t know if I’m going to like being fixed. Mom and Dad are already talking about something called the cone of shame. I’ pretty sure I’m not going to like that!

Hi Pretty Penny! We are excited to meet you too!!!!!!!! We TOTALLY understand that we have to wait until you are “fixed” (not that you are broken lol!!). Levi doesn’t have his manparts anymore so we get it! lol. You will be ok with the cone….Levi didn’t like it one bit but he only had to wear it part of the day but he had to wear it for 14 days!!!!! Roary did well with his cone when he had his bladder stone surgery…..he didn’t like it one bit but he adjusted. You have an understanding and knowledgeable Mama so you will be just fine! xoxo
