Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Wanna come play?

Hi everybody! It’s me, Penny!

Me on my deck. Mom says I’m all grown up now.

Mom’s been off doing adventure stuff without me a lot this summer. But don’t worry, I’ve been having lots of fun right here at home.

I’m a happy girl!

I have the best backyard and I thought you all might want to come over and play with me!

Mom says I look like a fox.

OK…so maybe it’s not fenced in so it’s a little scary for you humans, especially if we doggies don’t come right back when we’re called.

Coming, mom!

I mean, I try to do my recalls, but sometimes, especially lately while I’m going through what mom calls my obstinate teenage years, I forget.

I got it, I got it!

Anyway, one of my most favorite things to do is to chase this little frisbee my dad bought for me.

I’ll just take this on a little spin around the yard.

I don’t always bring it back to them, but I sure love to chase it. And sometimes I surprise mom or dad and come running back with it!

I love this game!

Of course I don’t actually give them the frisbee, they have to come get it. After all, I need to maintain the hierarchy around here.

Hey, can one of you get it for me?

Anyway, I thought you’d all like to see my backyard, and especially me! Mom says it’s not always all about me, though I can’t imagine why not.

I’m going to go explore some more now.

Can you?

Come along with me!

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Penny your backyard is GLORIOUS!!! I love it! OH MY GOODNESS YOU ARE ALL GROWN UP! You are STUNNING! Just STUNNING!!! Levi can’t wait to play with you!!! BTW…your blog and a few others changed where you post your name when you comment, it only shows Caren Dakota Cody, not the other way like it used to. Why did all of these blogs change????

  2. Hi Penny! Your backyard is beautiful–not as beautiful as you, of course! The frisbee looks like fun–especially the not returning it to your mom and dad part. Always gotta keep them on their toes!

  4. Such a happy Penny! Thanks for taking us with you on your very pretty backyard. Funny… Zeke wasn’t fond of giving us back whatever he chased and fetched. He played the same way you do 🙂

  5. How beautiful you are! And energetic and especially athletic! And yet it’s all about having the best fun isn’t it? You sure do that to perfection. 🙂 Go for it, Penny!!

    • Thank you Miss Ann! Lots of people have been telling my mom that I’m athletic. She nods a lot, but mostly she sees me as sort of gangly and sometimes clumsy right now. I can, however, jump on the bed or sofa with one straight up hop. I’d like to see my mom do THAT!

  6. Penny, you are just gorgeous!! Your fur is much lighter than Monk’s, and it’s striking on you. I love your frisbee-thing. I got one for Monk, but he’d rather chase a ball. What is it with boys and balls?!?!

    • I hear I’m much lighter than my sister Angel Katie too. Mom says she likes that so she doesn’t get confused so often about who I am. I don’t know, she seems pretty confused most of the time anyway. They haven’t thrown a ball outside for me, I like to chase balls inside so maybe I’d like to do that outside too. Mom is pretty sure I won’t bring a ball back though. We’ll have to see, now won’t we!
