I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

    • Yes! I haven’t heard them, but today they are overwhelming my feeders. Yesterday was 70 and right now it’s snowing here. I remember last year they came back and then we got tons of snow. I always wonder if they’re sorry when they come back early.

      • I remember the first time I heard them. When I used to work next to a man-made lake, they would swoop at me if I stopped to take pictures “too close to their nest” (Not that I could see it!! Today it is 55 and tomorrow will be 8. Sheesh…

    • Me too, most of the time. They’re a little overpowering early in the season and then again just before they leave. They eat a LOT! But I love that they are harbingers of spring!

  5. What type of birds are they, Dawn? I see Dale calls them “loud mouths”, but is that their actual name? 😅

    • They sure don’t! I remember one winter/spring we had a robin sitting on our heated birdbath during a blizzard. He looked quite disgruntled.

      • Those robins seem to have a perpetual scowl. I have to start watching my coach light at the front door, a favorite place for nest-making in the “bend” of the light. I resort to putting a box up there to thwart nest building … it will look like “House Beautiful” after I do that. 🙂
