Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Sunshiny Day!

Hey Peeps! It’s me, Penny!

Come ON! We’re going for a walk in the woods!

Yesterday the sun came out and it was so pretty that I bugged and bugged my mom to take me somewhere fun.

I would just like to point out how beautiful my fur is.

So she did! We went over to a park in Rose Township. Usually we don’t see anyone over there, but since the day was so beautiful we saw quite a few people walking in the woods.

Really mom? You want me to SIT??!

That’s OK, Mom just asked me to sit and watch her while other people and their dogs went by, so I did. Apparently mom and I are very slow walkers.

This is a very scary horse dung bucket. I barked at it a lot.

We went up and down some hills in the woods and I wasn’t scared at all about being under the trees! I guess that’s because it wasn’t windy and nothing weird was blowing around. You know, like leaves and stuff.

Hey Mom! I jumped over the rock, you got that on film, right?

Then we walked beside a couple of pretty ponds. Mom was using a compass on her phone to check out where Southeast is in relation to the bridges we were standing on.

Sure is pretty around here!

Apparently the Milky Way core is visible again and at this time of the year, the SE is where to find it.

Whatever, mom.

On the way back to the car she let me pick which trail to follow. She was sorta glad I picked the shorter one, especially after a fat tire bike went by and I got the zoomies.

This is me being crazy. Mom was not amused.

Mom says zoomies in the woods are not as fun as zoomies in the living room.

I beg to differ.

OK, I’ll be serious if I have to be. For a moment anyway.

Signing off for now,

your zoomie pal, Unstoppable Pretty Penny.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Hey, little zoomie Penny! Did you tell you mom that you are getting so much exercise when you do that?! Sounds like you had a great walk–and jump, too! Mom jumped too, right?!

  2. You are such a good girl, Penny, making sure to get your mom out for adventures likes walks in the parks. I think it’s a very good thing that you keep her on a leash like you do, or she might get in trouble. But I think you know that already, don’t you?

  3. Hi, Pretty Penny! Thank you for taking us along for your walk! Your furs were absolutely gleaming in the sunshine. Mom and Dad are taking good care of you! Do you like to be brushed? Having zoomies in the leaves means that you get to bring some leaves home in your furs! Sending gentle, loving pats on the head for you. 💕

    • I didn’t mind being brushed when I was a little squirt, Ms. Denise. But I don’t want to hold still long enough to get brushed these days. Mom remembers the days when I lay in her lap and let her brush me as long as she wanted. I hardly fit in her lap any more!

  5. Miss Penny, you have the prettiest fur! It’s such a nice coppery color, quite different from Monk’s almost-black portions. But zoomies on the leash? In the park? No No No!! I’m forever reminding Monk not to do zoomies on the leash — it’s dangerous for puppies and mamas — but that zoomies in the fenced-in back yard, or inside the house, are just fine. Cute, even. What a great day you had!

    • Mom didn’t appreciate my zoomies in the woods at all, Ms. Debbie! And yes, mom and dad love my copper colors. I am totally different than my big sister, Katie, who might have been quite a bit like your Monkey!

  6. Dear Pretty Shiny Penny, zoomies on the leash are definitely not as fun as zoomies off the leash! For either you or your mom! Stay safe and have fun!

    • I know Ms. Deb, but I just couldn’t help myself! Mom says she needs to find me a place where it’s safe to do zoomies, cause our living room isn’t big enough and apparently it’s too dangerous in the woods!

  11. Of course that bucket needed to be barked at. And what better reaction than zoomies when a fat tire bike goes by. After all, Penny is a Sheltie. 😉

  12. The living room is better for zoomies because you’re not on a leash. So maybe the backyard is best?

    • Mom says as soon as she can trust me to not run out into the street she MIGHT let me have zoomies out in the backyard. So far I’ve had a couple of zoomies out there when I’m on my long leash. Just about took mom’s knees out though.
