I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

    • Yes indeed. I have no idea how these plants seeded themselves from last year so abundantly…but I might let them stay for next year too. Last year I pulled every last one of the plants up, and I honestly don’t remember half of these plants. I thought they were all annuals that I pulled…but here is evidence they were not! 🙂

  2. Just gorgeous Dawn! Is this your garden? I’ve only seen one Monarch this year. Monday I saw a Viceroy and I can’t remember the last time I saw one of those.

  3. Spectacular!! I’ve had a loss recently too, Dawn, so photos like yours bring so much life back, don’t they? That is one gorgeous photo! I could hang it on my wall … the wall opposite my computer screen so I would look at that photo every day. What a beautiful and wonderful and loving world we live in, eh? 🙂 Thank you.

    • I’m sorry you’re experiencing loss too. Yes, I thought we all could use a cheerful image…and then this monarch showed up and it stuck around long enough for me to take the dog back inside, and get the camera. Of course the dog insisted in coming back out with me and bouncing around. She is a puppy after all. So the monarch didn’t stay long, but I got this image.

This morning we went out and surprised two mamma deer and their offspring. No camera. And bouncing puppy…so no images. But it was pretty!

These are the kinds of things that keep me smiling even when times are sad.

Oh and puppy. Puppy keeps me smiling even when she’s being bad!

  5. Thank you for the beautiful photo! Smiles are the best. I’m sorry for your recent losses, I didn’t comment but read about them. Today as I catch up on posts, I’m getting so many smiles and giggles. A great way to start the day! I’m giggling at the bouncy puppy as I read your responses to others here! She makes me smile too! ❤️🙏😁
