Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Is Christmas early? Or maybe Thanksgiving is late.

Our community band holiday concert is this Thursday. Yes, the day after tomorrow, and before Thanksgiving. It’s never happened like this before.

We’ve only had 4 weeks of rehearsals to prepare, but it’s Christmas music, much of it we’ve played before. It will be fine. In fact, it might just be the perfect way to kick the holiday season off!

So…if you’re in the area, and would enjoy some uplifting music to kick start your holiday season…come on over to the Clarkston High School this Thursday evening, 7:00 p.m. It’s free.

You can have your picture taken with the authentic Santa, and we’ll have cookies afterward too! I personally don’t think you can have a legitimate holiday season until you’ve heard “Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson live and in person.

And Santa himself will be directing “Sleigh Ride.” That alone should make you want to be there.

Happy Holidays, everybody! Christmas music, then Thanksgiving. It’s always good to mix things up. Keeps us on our toes!

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. If I lived closer…As for starting the season early, I think many of us right now could use a little ho, ho, ho, that’s for sure.

  2. For me, it’s way too early for Christmas music, but I know many people have been decorating here for a week. I know you’ll have fun — as will the people who attend the concert!

  4. I think it has something to do with the times – even I’ve put out a few small Christmas decorations already, and I haven’t done much of that the past few years.

  5. I haven’t seen any Christmas decor yet, but with this first snow tomorrow, maybe people will be inspired to do some outdoor decorating. I only hang a wreath on the door for “outside” appearances and this year I plan to decorate inside, something I haven’t done in about 16 years. The concert sounds fun – I like that the “leader of the band” part of the time will be the Jolly Old Elf himself.

  6. Way to confuse folks! See? I always said your Thanksgiving is too close to Christmas! How lovely, though!

  7. Oh, yes we need some cheer!! Whether music or a beverage of each person’s choice. And we need some kindness. Sigh, ah me. Let’s all keep working on that kindness. If I were in the area, Dawn, I’d be at that concert in a heartbeat … or a down beat :-). I bet the concert was perfect. 🙂

  9. Well, I for a fact know Thanksgiving is late! After Thanksgiving, I only have 15 days of school until my Xmas break. (Not that I’m counting days or anything!).

Hope you had a fun concert. I’m sure it boosted some people’s spirits(boy do we need some boosting).
