I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

I have, of course, many out of focus shots. But the two of them stayed out there for quite a long time. Eventually the hummer left for flowers somewhere else and the butterfly sat and drank it’s fill.

Oh yes, even though there was a whole garden of flowers, and more out by the mailbox, the hummer wanted THAT ONE. And he stayed and tried to get that butterfly to move for quite a long time before he huffed off, probably to the fresh sugar water I’d just put out behind the house.

Who won?? You’d think the bigger hummer would run off the butterfly, but those butterflies can be pretty persistent when it comes to feasting at a banquet. Great photo, by the way!

The butterfly never moved an inch…the hummer finally buzzed off to find something else to sip on. There are all sorts of flowers, and TWO hummer feeders with sugar water, so I don’t know why she felt that one blossom was so important.

Wow, great photo. I changed the feeder syrup earlier today. I see them the hummingbirds fling around outside. It’s fun to watch them. For Father’s Day this year my daughter and wife got me a hummingbird feeder that has a camera. It’s pretty cool. It alsois helpful in figuring out if hummingbirds are still here. They are and this past weekend I saw them up at the lake. Gonna keep my eye out.

Ooooh the camera thing sounds pretty cool. Maybe next year. Last week I put up a 2nd hummingbird feeder so they’s stop fighting and so maybe they’d get a break from the bees. Seems to be working most of the time.

I had taken the dog out and the hummer was already harrassing that monarch. She stayed there long enough for me to take the dog back inside, get the camera, change the settings and get back outside. I got about 7 shots before she left, this was really the only one that was in focus.

Our little local library does a photo show every October. Entries get turned in during September. So I made this into an 8×10 and will turn it in tomorrow.

I was thrilled to find them together. The hummer eventually gave up and went in search of other flowers (there are many).
