Change Is Hard

I haven’t seen one of these in my yard in years. But yesterday afternoon she arrived.

My first glimpse of this female pileated woodpecker.

And she wasn’t here very long, just checking out the stumps of trees we had to cut down.

She posed for me for an instant.

And then she was gone.

It’s just pure luck I happened to look outside while she was here. And that my camera was next to me when I did.

I’m outta here!”

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. You have so many birds! I heard little chirps outside my window yesterday and I am pretty sure we have a nest in our camellia shrub because the chirps were tiny birds hopping around on the leaves! Not a good angle for a photo, but those adorable little chirps…!!!
