Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Snow? What snow?

We got temps into the 60’s yesterday.  Most of the snow melted, though there’s still a little bit in shady areas.  Katie and I couldn’t resist spending some time at the park.  We went a week ago and the snow was still so deep that I ended up carrying her over a half mile back to the car.  She’s such a princess.

Anyway, here are some pictures of our adventures…

Last week:

and this week:

Last week she just sat down and wouldn’t go any further.  Carrying her out I had to stop and rest at a picnic table.

This week she didn’t want to stop.  So many things to sniff!  But on entry to the park, a low spot was flooded with spring runoff.  What to do?

Katie 2462

We can walk around it Mom!  Maybe through the tall grass?

Katie 2463

Maybe not so much.  Carry me Mom?

Katie 2464So of course I did, making it around and through the big wet puddle with only one soaking foot.  Ah well..it dried out before we got to the next puddle.

We had lots of interesting things to investigate…a deflated party balloon …

…and the noisy rushing sound of water moving under a culvert…

Mostly we just had fun exploring.  And of course posing for the camera…

Have you noticed that it’s a bit windy?  No?  Well, here’s another clue…

Katie 2484

Oh the indignity of it all!

Katie 2494

On the other hand….the wind makes her look more adorable!

Don’t you think?

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Wow, you must have very good muscles. I dont think I could carry my dog 1/2 a mile. I love the windy photos. Diana

  2. It was not easy, let me say! I kept thinking “you do what you have to do.” And I was glad she wasn’t any heavier!

  3. Such a big change between last week and this week! Look at all that snow! Katie is very pretty as always in all her photos. But I must say, she is a wimp for not being able to walk and having to be carried! LOL! Mom wouldn’t carry me (but she’s a weakling and probably couldn’t do it even though I am only 15 pounds!)

  4. What a fun day! All our snow is almost gone too. Still waiting for some ice to melt.

Katie is gorgeous as usual. She loves the camera.

  5. Our snow melted too. Made us much happier! Those are really pretty pictures of you with your hairs all blowing around. I like the wind. It feels good. Maisie – not so much – it sort of blows her over. She topples easily. HA! BOL!

  6. We’re going through the same kind of weather here. One day we are getting several inches of snow, and then within a few days, it’s all melted again. I was just ready to pull the dogwalk out into the field and the weaves into the yard, and we got another 4 inches this morning. I hope it’s gone soon.

  8. All that wind sure looks like fun. Key West is pretty windy at times too. Hope all is going well. If you get a chance go visit Reilly, his Mom has been bouncing in and out of the hospital since December.

  9. Catching up on my reading–last week was a bear.

Carrying my dog: I often think about what would happen if, while we’re out hiking in the boonies, something happens and I’d have to carry one of my dogs out. I don’t think I could do it. Boost, 35 pounds, a little ways; Tika closer to 45, depending on whether I could even get her up off the ground.

I especially like the wind-blown photo where she’s looking at you (3rd from end) but the undignified backwards-blown one is too much fun!
