I’m desperately in need of a chuckle. Work has been difficult lately…to put it nicely. And my Wordless Wednesday was going to be pictures of Katie frolicking in our sleet and snow. (Yes we got sleet and snow last night and today. I know. It’s the end of March. It’s not fair. But it is what it is.) I couldn’t do my Wordless Wednesday because my blog has suddenly decided it doesn’t want to allow photos to be uploaded. And a Wordless Wednesday without photos is just a big blank. Tonight I’m too tired to try to figure out what changed. Plus it’s just annoying and I have way too much annoying stuff going on already.
So anyway. You probably don’t know how excited I’ve been this winter to be able to put my car in the garage. Many of the past winters I’ve had to scrape snow off the car every morning before work because we’ve had construction stuff in the garage during our multi-year remodel projects. So this year, as part of my agreement to go back to work I negotiated that I’d get a spot in the garage for my car! It’s been wonderful.
It started snowing and sleeting and raining ice last night and apparently continued most of the day though I was too busy to notice. As I was leaving work this evening I heard the noise of people scraping the ice off their car windows. I smiled and actually said to myself…”I’m so glad I don’t have to do that because I have a garage.”
And then the smile faded as I realized that while I was at work the car hadn’t been in the garage…and yes indeed I did too have to scrape ice off my windshield. And just as the disgusting truth sunk in I began to laugh.
Cause if you can’t laugh while you’re standing in a puddle of ice water scraping your windshield in March what can you do?

Winter had just been going on to long for you. We had wonderful 75 degrees today and I took the “boys” to the park. More turtles and of coarse Jackson being the inquisitive type stuck his head in the hollow of a tree and to suddenly back up so quickly – quickly followed by some very large bees. Picture it, me, Reilly and Jackson moving as fast as 10 feet could carry us!

I’m so sorry that work has been difficult lately. You deserve better!
This might or might not provide a chuckle, but the forecast for where my brother lives was for 6-10″ of snow today. And he’s not in Canada or Minnesota or North Dakota or anything!

Paddy had long heard the stories of an amazing family tradition. It seems
that his father, grandfather and great-grandfather had all been able to walk
on water on their 18th birthday. On that special day, they’d each walked
across the lake to the pub on the far side for their first legal drink.
So when Paddy’s, 18th birthday came ’round, he and his pal Mick, took a boat
out to the middle of the lake, Paddy, stepped out of the boat …and nearly
drowned! Mick just barely managed to pull him to safety. Furious and
confused, Paddy, went to see his grandmother. “Granny,” he asked, “it’s me
18th birthday, so why can’t I walk ‘cross the lake like me fa, his fa, and
his fa before him?”
Granny looked deeply into Paddy’s, troubled brown eyes and said, “Because
your fa, your grandfa and your great grandfa were all born in December, when
the lake is frozen, and you were born in August, ya dip shit!
March is almost over….It truly is the longest month ever…..

I would have cracked up at a no photo wordless wednesday!
We got snow last night….my car is in the garage. Yea 🙂
I hate scraping my car. I always am tempted to pay one of my students to do it for me, but I’m not sure how that would go over with my boss. He might think I’m lazy about doing my job.

Well, I did laugh at your story but this winter hanging on is really not funny! LOL! The weather report has us having lows in the 20s and highs never about 40 through Wednesday of next week so far. No sun either. What is going on?

Maybe you can have a Wordless Friday? But for those that missed Wordless Wednesday (and so Dawn has a record of this event), here is the story.
Short version: You can upload pictures again. 🙂
Longer version: There was power outage at the data center which abruptly stopped my server, database tables were corrupted, tmp directory changes made awhile ago were enforced at the restart, and strange things happened to Interspike hosted sites.
Thank goodness for backups.

I remember those workdays that would leave me huddling in my corner weeping at the frustration, or screaming like a maniac and generally being someone it’s best to leave alone. That’s when my dreams would take me to retirement, and I finally made it. I did survive long enough. Hold on to that hope and know that spring will finally get here. At least that’s what everyone tells me, even though our forecast is calling for snow, snow, snow.

Maybe I could cheer you up by hunting down that stupid ground squirrel, Phil, and deliver him to your door…minus a head? Then you could try to find his head? Wouldn’t that be fun!? Well, maybe a little morbid, but fun. 🙂

OOOh dear. You know if it makes you feel better we got snow here in SOUTHERN CA at the end of March, LOL, and we had a water teaser where I did not need my coat for a few days, but winter has to let you know it is still hanging out when you least expect it ….it will pop up again, LOL.

Thank you Spike!
And yes Anna, that stupid groundhog that said winter was almost over was wrong. Again. Hope they take back his salary. Or carrots. Or whatever he gets.

I hope your work gets better soon. Smiling at how easy it is to forget that our car is outside and not in a garage. Sigh. You guys are getting all of our usual snow this year…it’s all gone south of us. Just think, Dawn! It’s almost the weekend!

Ugh! That sounds pretty awful. I can relate though, we had snow and ice here during the night. I had to scrape ice off my car this morning, thankfully not while standing in ice water. I guess it is true that it can always get worse. I’m really beginning to rethink this whole “living in the midwest thing,” the weather can be unbearble. 😦
