Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

No good reason to get wet

I think we need a bit of relief from all the solemnity around here lately.  So of course I will turn to my go-to dog Katie to bring a smile to all our faces.  And it just happens that Reilly is holding another contest, hoping we’ll all share our cutest “having fun with water” photos.

I’m pretty sure Katie isn’t a beach dog, and she probably doesn’t like swimming, though she hasn’t had the opportunity to try either of these activities yet.  She has been around ponds and lakes and is always very careful not to get her feet wet.

She likes posing near water.  Heck she likes posing near anything!

Sometimes she isn’t thrilled when the water is frozen either.  But it’s spring so we won’t go there.

She goes to a groomer for her bath, so I’ve never seen her completely wet, and I didn’t think it was fair to put her in the tub this morning just so I could see what she looks like when she’s soaked.  So the closest I could come to a wet Katie-girl was to run around in the tall wet grass this morning.  Here she is in all her morning sogginess.

Katie says the only good reason to get wet is if there’s something exciting to chase!

And the best water is the water in her bowl.

She may have a point!

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Katie and Reilly are kindred spirits – He hates getting wet – even his feet and although he likes to pose near water there is no way any of his toes are going near it! After our one bad experience at the groomers (they cut his fur all over) Dave always give him a bath and I brush and trim his feet etc. He tolerates the bath – but certainly doesn’t like it!

  2. Eva is joining the team of Katie and Reilly too – She never likes baths but tries her best to be a good girl, however, her face just shows that she is being tortured during the bath time. She always tries to keep her feet from getting wet whenever she is near the water too, it’s amazing to see her body is dry even she spends hours at the beach.

  3. my shelties are not water dogs either, I think they think it messes their hair up and they are pretty dogs after all!

  5. There is an advantage to having dogs that don’t care for water – my labs, especially Shasta, think water is there for the taking and lately our fish pond has become her cooling off spot. Apparently it doesn’t take much for her to think she needs cooling off. Katie is so much more royal, lucky you!

  7. Sheltie don’t seem to be very fond of water. Although, Chewy keeps jumping into his water bowl. Maybe he’ll be a dock diver?
