Katie and I are getting a bit stir-crazy this weekend, stuck inside as the rain falls. So we’ve been watching the bird feeder, Katie and I, and we got to watch a very loving cardinal couple. She sat on the top of Katie’s kennel and he would go to the feeder, choose a special seed, then fly and feed it to her. So sweet.
Later in the morning I saw this big bird hanging out.
Turns out she’s the female rose breasted grossbeak. And eventually I was rewarded with seeing them both together at the feeder.
Seems it’s a couple’s day for birds around these parts.
Katie says: “Enough with the birds Mom….what are we going to do for fun?

It’s a rainy day here as well. Cardinals are so beautiful! They always seem like such loving couples.

It’s tunnel time! Indoor recess.

We’ve been watching birds in our yard too. I’ve got a robin nesting in a crabapple in the front and two mourning doves feverishly working on a new nest in the back. The rain doesn’t seem to bother them.

Rainy days can be fun for some – but not when you want to get out and go walkies ! Does Katie’s coat seem a lot darker then it use to be?

Some indoor tricks and treats must be fun, Katie!
It rains a lot here too!

Rainy days can be such a bore for puppies. Mine don’t mind the rain, but I do. Have you noticed that cats are much more avid bird-watchers than dogs? I’m not sure their intent is the same, however.

That must mean it’s spring!
You should join Honey’s dancing with the dog stars! I’d love to see you and Katie. Although you might need a video camera.

I’m tired of wind, rain and flooding. I’m glad you got to enjoy some birds. I hope the weather has cleared up for you guys. We’re supposed to get more rain and storms until Friday/Sat.

It was nice to drive out of the rain on the way north on Sunday. But then it got windy. And finally, downright cool. (You at least had a fairly warm rain, right?) Wishing we could have met–but we will some time. (And has it stopped raining now?)
