Change Is Hard

Finally! A little dogalicious adventure

With Aunt V somewhat settled in at the nursing home Katie and I finally had some time to do a little adventuring today.  Ok..not such an adventure.  But we did go to her favorite park!  It was a beautiful day and she wasn’t going to let me get away with putting her off.  She whined and huffed at me all afternoon till I broke down and loaded her up for the short trip to a good walk.

There were lots of people there, a softball game going on and a graduation party.  But we headed off for a solitary walk through the woods and field.  It was lovely.  We had to stop in the shade once for a rest, but otherwise we trotted right along.

On the way back to the car we stopped at the picnic pavilion and talked to some lovely ladies who said that Katie was a very pretty ‘miniature collie dog.”  Whatever.  She got petted and admired which is what she was after (That and any scraps of graduation lunch that might have fallen.  Too bad her mama wouldn’t let her have any.)

This last picture’s for Diana.  Yes I checked for snakes before we went up this overgrown path! 🙂

It’s been a long couple of months for Katie-girl as she took a back seat to other emergencies.  She’s been very patient about all the comings and goings.

See?  She can be a good girl!

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. I bet she is one happy tired girl this evening – but that look says it all doesn’t it – when she gives you those eyes and they are saying ‘thank you Mom”

  2. Looks like a fun adventure. Did I read that you passed a “graduation” party? Sounds like a chance to sneek a picture of a “grad” for the scavenger hunt to me. 🙂

  4. Of course Katie can be a good girl!

I’m glad you got out for a walk. Walking with a dog can be so therapeutic, and it seems like you might need that with all that is going on.

Oh yes, if I had a nickel for everytime someone asked me, “Is that a miniature collie, or Is he a border collie?”

  5. Hey Marie! LOL! I DID try to scope out the graduation party, asked the Mom several times who was the graduate but she was more into the dog than listening to me…

  8. Looks like a really pretty park! I was just wondering, has Katie “graduated” from any of her agility classes?

  9. Too bad we live too far apart for a doggy play date! Teddy and Katie would probably have a great time together!

  10. I always knew you was a good girl Katie, well done for being patient, and well done for knowing when to push.
