Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Pretty things in my own yard.

Sometimes I feel restless and wish I could move somewhere brand new.

Then we have a beautiful day like today – and as I work in my gardens I realize it’s pretty darn nice right here.

Especially if I could someday get caught up on the weeding.

Though I suppose weeding is never done.  Ever.

Tomorrow is supposed to be even prettier than today;  though maybe a bit too hot to weed.

Darn.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Beautiful flowers Dawn. Sometimes, there is no better place to be than your own backyard. In fact, I feel that way most days.

Enjoy your Sunday. If it’s too hot to weed, there is always that nice chair on the deck with a book!

  2. Nice chair on deck with book sounds lovely. Back is sort of sore from yesterday.

  3. Do you think most people feel restless at times? As people, aren’t most of us sometimes (or often?) imagining the grass in greener on the other side of the fence? Like you, I find that when I sit down and really attend to what’s on this side of the fence it appears to be so much beauty that you just kinda have to let your heart open in gratitude. Anyway, that’s been one of my prescriptions for having experienced a wildly restless soul.

  4. Such pretty flowers in your garden. Sometimes I think I would like to go somewhere else – maybe the coast, maybe another country. I guess we need to have a bit of restlessness now and then to keep the soul stirring. Then I go sit on my deck and, like you, realize it’s pretty darn nice right here.

  5. Oh I love those star shaped pink flowers – the third picture – what are they???? A splash of color in the garden can make all the difference to how you feel

  6. Just beautiful! I would like to move too sometimes. Then I think about getting this house ready to put it on the market. Forget that. I dont have the energy for that. LOL

  7. We’re so lucky to have pretty things in our own back yard to take pictures of. That doesn’t mean that it’s the only place with pretty things to take pictures of, and well we know it.

  8. Look at all those vibrant colors! So pretty! Love the “reds.” Weeding isn’t fun but sure seems worth the results.

  9. What a wonderful way to “ground” yourself. I get restless sometimes – but I find as I get older, the more I enjoy being home.

  12. As we’re losing our flowers to the heat, it’s so nice to see some color! It’s also nice to be able to enjoy where ever you’re at. Beautiful garden!

  13. You do have some very lovely things in your yard. I especially like the lavender daisy-like flower. Kathy makes a good point about most people probably feeling restless at times in their lives. As a “townie” myself, I feel that way quite often. I’ve told hubby I have no intention of retiring to this town (20-something years from now) but who knows? Maybe I will end up being a “lifer”
