Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

You want me to look WHERE Mama?

I'll pose but I won't look at you

It’s cold and really windy, but this afternoon the sun came out so Katie and I took advantage of the perception of warmth and went for a drive.  Mama took the camera.  Katie sighed.

We went to a park that has a children’s play area.  There’s a big sign filled with all the rules; one says  ‘no pets.’

Not looking at you.

But since there wasn’t anyone around and since Katie can’t read we wandered in anyway.

Are you sure we can be here Mama?It smells like children! You know I don’t especially like children.  They’re noisy.  Noisier than me.  And that’s saying something.

Hey, there’s lots of places to sniff.  Wait.  You want me to sit where?  Under these weird things?  OK.  But I’ not going to look at you.

Not looking at you.

Nope just not gonna do it.

Nope.

Darn!  You got me!

Now wait a minute.  You want me to climb up THERE?  Oh yea.  I can do that!  But I’m not gonna look at you.  You might as well face it.

Not looking at you.

Hey Mama this is fun and everything, but can we just go for a walk out in the grass?

I sat good for all your stupid pictures, so can we, can we?  Just go nose around all that pretty grass for awhile?

Of course we can baby-girl.  Right after one last shot.

Ok.  But I’m not looking at you.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Hey Katie you did well not looking! It a fine art between doing what they want and doing what we want and I thinks you got it down!

  2. Hi Katie! I was checking out Ludo’s site, and saw your beautiful profile picture. What a pretty girl you are! I’m a black baby Dane, but I have a senior Sheltie brother named Winstin. Mommy wishes she could let his hair be as pretty as yours, but he gets shaved every summer ’cause it gets TOO HOT in Texas. It was very nice to meet your beautiful self, and we look forward to knowing you better.

    Puppy Love,
    Jasmine and Winstin

  3. That playground looks so cool!

Katie, you are model material. But obviously, you have more depth than that, and don’t want to be used for your good looks.

Oh how I long for a blue sky like that! I swear it has been at least 4 weeks since we had a day without rain.

  4. I also have not looking at the camera down to an art form! You are one very smart girl, Katie (and beautiful too)!

  5. It certainly was windy for a stretch there, wasn’t it? We had gale force winds up here, and, looking at Katie’s coat, it looks like there were gale force winds there, too. Cute pics!

  6. Katie knows that sometimes profile shots are better than face on shots. Katie knows a lot. Katie knows how to humor her mother just long enough to get to do what she wants. Because Katie is not only a beauty, she’s also very smart.

  7. Have you and Reilly been sharing tips ??????? Isn’t it fun when you get home and find only 1 good picture out of the 40 you have taken 🙂 🙂 🙂 Katie still looks cute and adorable – even when she is not looking at the camera
