While I was in DC I stayed at a hotel in Georgetown. I’ve never stayed there, and on my many taxi trips back and forth I could see it was really beautiful.
I only had 30 minutes between meetings on one day to wander a little bit. It sure is a pretty place.
And there was a giant library just a couple blocks from the hotel.
There was much more to see, beautiful gardens and a pretty cemetery, parks, large colonial homes. But I had to get back to work.
And then my time in DC was up and I was headed home.
I had a layover in Cleveland…
…and left as the sun was rising.
Ultimately I landed in Flint, home of the Buick.
It was a fast trip, a busy trip. We got a little bit of good done. I have jet lag and I didn’t even fly that far. Georgetown and DC are beautiful.
Someday I want to go back just for fun.

Your pictures are very nice! It’s been years since I’ve been to Washington and I’d love to go back – I’ve seen the major attractions, but would love to wander Georgetown and spend some time in the Smithsonian. I hope your meetings were productive.

Meetings were OK. Would have liked to explore Georgetown for a couple of days myself.

I love Georgetown! Not only is it cute, but it is a really FUN town. It does look like Philly (where I spent my Saturday).

Philly is fun too. Husband says he wants to go there next time we’re in DC (probably May)…he’s never seen historic Philly.

Me too. I say that every trip to DC…wish I had more time. I did have a whole week in 2009 when I wasn’t working..in December. Cold. Windy. I was sick. But still..it was fun.

I love Georgetown too! Very cute and lots of good shops and restaurants. It would be fun to live
there if you had a lot of money! 🙂

So glad you stayed in Georgetown. It’s one of the prettiest cities I’ve ever visited. It, like many VA cities, are all architecturally similar to New England. I hope you get to got back to see more of Georgetown and enjoy a bit more DC too.

Hi, Dawn. I’m glad you got to stay in a pretty place and hope you can go back to explore it sometime. Was that Buick in the Flint airport? What a grill!
It may not be jet lag but simple exhaustion. You put a lot into these trips and meetings. Rest well tonight.

PJ: Yes, the 38 Buick was in the baggage claim area of the Flint airport. Beautiful car. I slept all day on Friday after I got home…and a lot on Saturday too. Today Katie and I played and I feel back to normal. Too bad about having to go back to work tomorrow! Good thing I had a couple days off after getting home to get readjusted otherwise it would be impossible to get back into the work frame of mind.

One day I hope we have a chance to compare notes about Georgetown. Once upon a time, a long time ago, it was one of my favorite places.
Sleep well.

People so often seem to say that they live in dull places where there’s nothing to take photos of. I love doorways and railings and benches and all that kind of stuff! Nice finds in your half an hour plus flight.
