Change Is Hard

Last flowers

Well.  Enough about baseball in October.  Let me show you the last blooms of fall in my garden.  This is monks head; or aconitum, if you’re the more scientific type.  It blooms very late in the season, often after a frost

The bluish purple end of the summer.

It’s very beautiful and I’m always glad to see some color in the garden this late in the year.  But it,and the end of baseball, mean summer is really truly without question over.

Darn. (But click on this last picture to see it up close.)

The end.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  3. I didn’t know that about monk’s head. Very pretty. Your Tigers get a chance to extend baseball just a little bit longer today. I was quite happy with the Tigers for firmly beating my team’s archnemesis in the AL championship.

  4. Lovely photos – I have a Monks head that blooms in early spring – must be a different variety. As for baseball, last night’s game did not go as I’d hoped but still you can have great pride in your Tigers for having gotten this far. And – there is still time. Although it would be rare indeed, they could still come back and take the next 4 games.
