Thursday the snow slowed a bit and someone plowed the driveway. I took the opportunity to go to town with groceries and visiting in mind.
But before I got to town I had to stop and grab this barn with the dark clouds.
And this orchard with the rope of clouds above it.
Once in town I stopped by Dog Ears Bookstore to visit with owner Sarah and her person Pamela.
We chatted for awhile and then I got brave and drove eleven miles over curving hilly snow covered roads to Leland where I spent a few bone chilling minutes wandering historic Fishtown
I don’t know what the temperature was, but with the wind blowing I know it was below zero.
I’d see something interesting, take off the gloves, shoot the image, and put those gloves back on while stowing the camera under my coat as fast as I could.
I didn’t stay very long. This town is definitely a tourist destination, though there were plenty of locals out and about. They didn’t seem that cold.
Along the way home I saw a few interesting things that made me pull over and attempt a capture.
I was only out there a couple of hours, but by the time I got back to the house I was glad to look at the view from the sofa.
And I was grateful for the little lap warmer named Lydia too.

Beautiful Snaps. It’s cold here too, but very little snow. By now there would be three feet and there’s barely two inches. Stay warm.

This area gets a lot of lake effect snow, though we haven’t had it too bad here, probably a foot or so. Just north of us they’ve been blasted every day all week, so they have several feet. I feel lucky not to have to deal with that much.

From here in my warm house, your scenes are beautiful. Lap warmers that are furry and purr as they warm are perfect!

Yes, she’s pretty efficient at warming my lap. She also snores which is very cute.

It is very beautiful here, though I don’t live here. I’m house sitting for a friend who knows I love it up here. Win/win. The cat doesn’t have to go to a kennel and I get a week looking at a beautiful lake!

She comes with the house where I’m staying for this week. Katie-girl is already jealous.

I love the photos, but sooo don’t miss that type of weather and cold! And to think of that guy who is riding his bike in that weather, well, they are very hardy stock in the UP!

This kind of cold wears a person out. And snow every day does too. I love it here, but it’s not an easy life.

The photos are beautiful. I had to laugh at your comment about Katie being jealous because when I saw the photo of Lydia, my first thought (my only thought!) was: Does Katie know about Lydia?

She’ll give me the once sniff over when I get home and then ignore me for a few hours, just to show me that I have sinned. But eventually she’ll be fine with it if I promise never to do it again. I usually just lie.

Bowsers it sure looks chilly out there. We are enjoying the coolness here, but know you are a lot colder.

Katie would like it down there now, cool enough to be pleasant for a sheltie-girl…but not blizzard conditions!

What an adventure! How many hand warmer pouches do you go through?
You’re my mentor, when (if) I retire I want to do, see, try all these adventures you’re getting yourself into!
