Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

WordPress Photo Challenge: Weathered

On this dreary winter day I went out to find something weathered. Sure I had stuff in archives somewhere, weathered is one of my favorite things. But I needed something to get me out of the house, yet not take me too far from home.

You know I was expecting a barn, but was hoping for something different.

And I got it.

I was on a road I’ve never traveled before, just a fluke that I came across this house. And I made it home in time to make dinner.

Win/win.

Here are a couple of other interpretations of weathered. You can find all of them at the first link above.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. This looks like a great fixer-upper for someone who has time, talent, and ….you know, money. This house has been empty for quite awhile? I like it!

    • It looks like it’s been empty for a long time. There’s a window either open or missing on the 2nd floor. I don’t know how long, as this is the first time I’ve ever been down this road.

  3. This house appeals to me, but I’m thinking I could do with less space. Great luck in finding this one!

  4. I’m not big on fixer-uppers, but you nailed the week’s theme, Dawn. Great capture!

  6. Not bad to not have to venture further than you had to capture this photo. As someone else wrote, you nailed this week’s challenge. The house looks like it could need a little help, though.

    • The house needs a lot of help. With windows open to the elements it’s probably beyond help now which is too bad. I always wonder about the people that lived in places like this and what dreams died that caused them to move away.

  9. Every time I see a house, barn, or building like this I want to go explore and photograph inside.
