In Duluth a couple of weeks ago I noticed this couple sitting on a park bench.
I liked the curve of the cement bench and the peace of his face.
I’m only good at candid street photography if my subjects don’t notice me.
Luckily they didn’t

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

dawn – I also like the face and curves as you mentioned – and the hat – shoe and mustache

I like it. For the same reasons you mention. I’m the same way about candid. Best done without anyone noticing. 🙂

I wish I were braver, maybe in NYC where everyone seems to be braver, I could be more obvious. Or maybe not.

what an incredibly cool shot, wouldn’t you love to know what he was sitting and thinking about?

His partner on the bench was reading a book. The park overlooks the port of Duluth, so maybe he was remembering being on a ship, or maybe he was just enjoying the view and the sunshine.

This is a fabulous capture! Simple and serene. I’m the same way, I like to take photos when people don’t see me doing that. Heh-heh. 😀

Yes, for a couple of reasons, for me anyway.. one I’m shy and two I think their faces are more authentic if they don’t realize I’m there.

I’m with you on that one — I’m always a bit uncomfortable when strangers want to know why I’m taking their picture! Great capture, Dawn.

I’ve never had anyone ask me, but I wouldn’t have an answer.
