Happy New Year everybody!
I suppose it’s silly to wake up today and think that everything wrong is resolved. But I do think a lot of things will be resolved, or at least well on their way to resolution, this year.
And, for my first smile of the year, look who I found when I took the dog out for her after dinner walk yesterday.
Yep, this guy was sitting high up in a neighbor’s tree, enjoying the sun. I pulled the dog back to the house, grabbed the camera, changed the lens, and took off back out the door without her.
Katie was not amused.
He let me get pretty close, keeping a wide eye on me, just below him.
And then, as I fiddled with some settings he took off. I never heard him leave, but he was gone when I glanced up after moving some dials. Pretty cool.
Later in the evening, just as it was getting dark I glanced outside to find this guy relaxing next to our spruce tree in the back yard.
I think he might be the same guy I saw several weeks ago with his girl.

Early this fall we had a pair of lovebirds visit the yard. He was carefully watching me, and his girl.
But, then again, maybe it’s a whole new guy in town. He relaxed out there until it was completely dark and then he moseyed back into the woods.
Yep…I was smiling a lot yesterday afternoon, and I plan on smiling even more as we get into 2021!
I hope you’re smiling too.

Happy new Year to you too! Last year was rough. I made a tremendous amount of lemonade with all the lemons, but I’m ready for a different aperitif!

It makes me laugh every time you call Katie ‘the dog.’ I picture Katie looking aghast **what did she just call me?!** Happy New Year, Dawn.

Happy New Year, Dawn and Katie! Marlee and I actually stayed awake to ring in this new year. We are both kind of draggy today. 🙂 Your photos are amazing. I plan to spend more time learning this Rebel Canon that I bought this past year. Who knows what other dreams will pop up for 2021, but sending wishes and hopes for a kinder, healthier New Year for all of us.

I’m smiling, too, now that I’ve seen these marvelous creatures. I occasionally see deer in my part of town, but they don’t grace our lawns so publicly. Here’s to many, many more smiles for us all in the coming year. I’d certainly smile if we got some snow. It’s possible, but rare, so I’ll have to enjoy your photos instead.
