Change Is Hard

…but change is certain.

Mama thinks she’s in charge

Katie here, of course. It’s Saturday, March 13 and tonight mama and daddy do something called ‘spring forward.’ Huh. I don’t believe I’ve seen either one of them spring before. I’m pretty sure they’re way too old to be springing at all.

Anyway, I heard them talking about how they figured this was a great way to feed me later in the day. I start begging for my dinner about 2:30 in the afternoon and I usually wear them down between 3:30 and 4. Used to be, when mama worked a real job that I didn’t get supper till she got home, maybe 7 at night, and apparently they thought I was fine with that.

I was not fine, and since mama’s home all the time now I figure I should get my supper when I want my supper. Them thinking that they can fool me by an hour tomorrow is a hoot. Obviously they have forgotten my intelligence.

That would be a mistake.

So today mama took me to two parks! It was a beautiful day, 49 degrees (9.44C) with blue skies and no wind! We had so much fun! You aren’t seeing pictures cause mama is frustrated with her LightRoom processing stuff.

She’s filled up her alloted memory, so her cloud is full. She says she doesn’t even need to store stuff in a cloud, she stores it all on her laptop. So she has to figure out how to empty her cloud library without deleting all her stuff on her laptop before she can work on any more pictures.

Mama hates technical stuff like this.

I think this is obvious proof that mama takes too many pictures. She should learn from this and back off, especially pictures of me. Of course i like the treats involved in a photo shoot…so maybe I should reconsider that.

And mama is filling up her WordPress alloted space too. Proof, obviously, that she talks too much. Maybe she should just take a break. I’d vote for that as long as she uses all the extra time she’d have taking me to parks and on adventures.

What do you think, should she focus entirely on me and let the rest of the stuff go? Inquiring doggies want to know…and while you’re at it, who thinks they’ll be able to feed me an hour later than normal tomorrow?

Yea. I don’t think so either.

A picture from last week. I pretty much look the same today.

I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. Ask your mama if she’s sure her pictures are on her computer or if she just has thumbnails because the full-size picture is in the cloud. I pay Apple $2.99 a month for an extra 200 GB of cloud space but I don’t take nearly as many pictures as your mama does. I just feel safer with things in the cloud.
Maybe if they push your dinner time to later they’ll give you a snack to tide you over. You will have to wait till the clock says it’s dinner time, you know that, right?

  2. I agree, I think snacking ought to be encouraged. But then again, I have an obese dog… maybe that’s not a hot idea.

  3. My cats are nodding in agreement with you, Katie. That ‘spring forward’ nonsense did not fool them for a minute. They were still up at their usual time, playing with the string on the blinds which is code for ‘time to wake up and feed us breakfast, people!!’ Too many treats might ruin your girlish figure, Katie. You need to be able to spring forward even if mama can’t!

  4. Why, go with Katie, of course. Always. And what’s an hour or so among friends? 😉

  5. Well Katie…I think they should fill your dish and then you can eat when ever you want! 🙂

  6. Oh Katie, my pups and kitties try and get dinner earlier all the time. It’s quite a hoot… We sometimes give in but I get it. I’m sorry your mama is having trouble with the photos and filled up something or others, what ever that techy stuff is. I don’t like it much either! You make me giggle, so keep up your sense of humor and maybe it will cheer up mama!! 😀❤️

  7. There is WordPress allotted space? I didn’t know that, but then I don’t do many photos. As for getting a better dinner time schedule… Katie, you have to know your mind and be persistent. Mama means well, she just needs a nudge in the right direction. 😉

  8. Katie, the vet doctor for my doggy told me she should be fed twice a day! You might want to start pushing for that, for your health and all, you know. But also tell your momma to buy a remote harddrive for her photos … back them up online for sure, but save them from her laptop onto her own remote harddrive so she never needs to fear losing them, especially the photos of you, the Princess. In truth, I have THREE remote harddrives, and I back them up weekly, so I never need fear losing photos of my old boats, my camping trips, nor of my doggy, rest her soul.

  9. Katie, my boys were fed morning and evening.. so you can pass that on to Mommy. I delete my old pics from wordpress to make room for more, and delete old posts.

  10. Personally I feel as though Katie should have a full bowl of food at all times. We use to do this with the boxers and it worked out great. With Cricket forget that no bowl stays full with her. Our dogs are now getting breakfast and dinner and most of the time dinner is at 4 for them. An external hard drive is a good way to save your photos you can pick one up online for about $100.00. I have about 8 of them total. This should get you a 5 TB size of the passport one. Check Bestbuy.com or Amazon.
