I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

I think there SHOULD be a love button! Also a sad button, or a compassionate button. Like FB.

Lots and lots of drama going on around that feeder right now. The kids are crazy! Mom and dad are just about over it all.

It’s been fun watching all the babies vying for food, then eating on their own when the adults give up and leave.

That’s an oriole! I haven’t seen one of those at my feeder at home or the one by the lake. Seeing a flurry of activity at the feeder at home and it’s fun to watch early in the morning and in the evening. Looks like your feeder is providing a similar show! Summer is here. Peace.

Yep, I think we have 3 or 4 young orioles this summer. Mostly they eat on their own, but if dad shows up they all beg. Silly dad, he tries to feed them all but then he gets disgusted and flies away.

Is the black bird feeding the others? Or getting a good chewing out? Great snap, Dawn.

The one with black wings is the oriole dad. He’s busy. Soon he will stop feeding them, they’re perfectly capable of eating their own grape jelly. As we get just a bit further into the season he’ll even try to scare them away from the feeder so he can eat in peace.

Feeding time! Your feeder is like a popular diner in a small town — everybody shows up and seems to know everybody else. And I find it lots of fun sharing the view from your deck!
