I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

  1. A baby! I’ve never seen one this small…or hairless!

    • Me either. Internet says they don’t leave the nest until almost full size and hard to distinguish from their parents. So this is odd. He’s tiny, but was running around getting a drink and looking for food like a full sized squirrel.

  5. What a curious little thing. Precocious too! I’ve looked out for very young ones but have never seen one.

  6. I just want to put a little coat on this baby! Can you imagine how much he might be shivering when this weekend gets here with its chilly temperatures?!?

  7. He looks shaved… and skinny… and, in that one shot, like he’s checking himself for ticks!

    • He was grooming, just like an adult. In fact he was running around, drinking out of the birdbath, looking for seed just like adult squirrels do. I’ve never seen one like this before, he was tiny, smaller than a red squirrel.

  8. Wow! Maybe he annoyed his momma too much, and she sent him outside so she could take a nap?

  9. Oh my goodness! She is so tiny! What a treat that you were able to capture this little one! I wonder if something happened to her mama and she is having to fare for herself. I hope she returns to your deck feeders so you can watch her grow and fill out. Her tail looks like a pipe cleaner!
