I'm a long time banker having worked in banks since the age of 17. I took a break when I turned 50 and went back to school. I graduated right when the economy took a turn for the worst and after a year of library work found myself unemployed. I was lucky that my previous bank employer wanted me back. So here I am again, a long time banker. Change is hard.

I’m thrilled you’re still doing Band, Dawn! You haven’t posted about it in a while, and I was afraid. Music does us all good, and what a gorgeous venue you’ve got! Wish I could hear the concert!

Broadway tunes–that had to be wonderful to play. You always get such a good turnout, don’t you? That is such a gift to your community.

Broadway tunes are fun to play but more importantly they audience likes to hear stuff they can hum along with. We do get a decent turnout…though like almost all community bands we could use more people to fill up the seats!

A show of show tunes… When is the concert? I’ve been playing my trumpet a lot, but not sure if I’m ready for a community band yet (Everything goes great for about 30 minutes, then I am shot!). Hope your show stopping show goes well!

I think you would love a community band now that you have a bit more time. Most people that start with the band can only play for so long. But they gather stamina the longer they play with us. You might be surprised!
The concert was Tuesday night and it went pretty well. There’s always some parts that surprise you when you’re playing outside your practice place…it all sounds different on stage!

They moved the french horns to behind me, and I actually liked hearing all 4 of the back there! I agree, FH, Oboe, clarinet…and maybe a tympani once in awhile. For attention getting.
