After a beautiful warm fall it’s finally getting cold now, cold like it’s supposed to be in Michigan in December.

We even got some snow, but nothing near what northern Michigan and the UP got. They had feet of snow fall in one day. We had a couple inches and they closed the local schools.

Why, I remember when I was a kid walking through 5 feet of snow uphill both ways to the bus stop. I’m sure you did too. Kids today.

Anyway, I haven’t done anything particularly interesting lately. Certainly nothing blog worthy.

Unless you count watching my birds as they swarm the feeders during these chilly mornings.

Sometimes we even have a bit of sun and then the birds are extra happy. I am happy too, enjoying the light on their feathers, and the sparkle in the snow.

I am hoping to get to my favorite birding park in the next week or so. We’ll see. It seems like every day fills up with things not going to the park related and I think….well tomorrow…and then tomorrow crazy happens all over again.

But if I ever do get out there I’ll share the photos. Cause there are bound to be some images blog worthy from out there.

PS: Thank you to everybody that suggested ways to print my blog. I’m going to be doing some research!
PPS: And THANK YOU to everybody that donated to my fundraiser for the Truck Safety Coalition! I appreciate every one of you!

Nice photos. You have quite the variety at your feeders. I have one cardinal pair that visits the feeders – they take turns eating and watching. It is fun to watch. But I can never get a good shot. Thank you for sharing, it made my day!

The birds are so colorful with a touch of snow and a ray or two of sun. Penny is soaking up some sun rays too I see. Yes, we lucked out for sure when we hear the snowfall in the UP – yikes! Our snow is already gone – not melted in these frigid temps, but it blew away!

I love when the sun peeks out during a winter snow! Hope you stay nice and warm during this next cold snap.

Yes, the sun puts you in a good frame of mind. You too Dawn – it sounds like it will be pretty brutal: -5 at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. No walking for me tomorrow!

Snow! wow, we hardly ever get snow here in the Pacific NW. The snow is gorgeous, as are all of your photos, by the way. With the rain here, it does get boring … bird feeders would be a great idea for the back patio, thank you. 🙂

Hi Dawn, don’t worry about getting to a park. The photos that you share of your beautiful yard & wildlife and of course, sweet Penny are a delight. We enjoy your posts & photos, no matter the subject. 😊

I love the birds in your yard! They look so pretty with the sun and snow on their little bodies. I think winter is a great time to hibernate … or maybe curl up in a sunny, south-facing window and read. It’s hard to get outside when the winds howl and the temperatures drop — and probably not so good on Sheltie paws, either!

So far Penny doesn’t seem to mind the cold. Though I do, so we aren’t usually out there very long!

No cardinals? I don’t know why I assume all my birds live all over! Do you have some other bright colored bird to watch?

None! I think some live in Hawaii, probably brought over. We do have western blue birds and gold finches. But seeing the red cardinals during winter is special!

I was hoping for an endless fall this year. That didn’t happen! ❄❄ Oh well, it does look pretty.
I am hoping for a snow day this year. Just one. And then the next day is back to 50 degrees.

Me too. I am always that way when we have unseasonably warm weather in the fall…I fool myself into believing it will go on until spring. I wish it would! But at least every beautiful day we had gets us one day closer to the real spring!
